Have you considered my servant Job? Job 1:8 NIV
It was just a polite question to show interest. My husband was dropping off our car to be serviced and nonchalantly asked the manager how his weekend had gone. The manager responded enthusiastically saying, "You may hear more than you wanted to know," and proceeded to proudly gush about his two teenage daughters' softball tournaments that he (one exuberant dad) had attended all weekend. Had Dave had more time, he would have probably heard a play-by-play account complete with pictures!

Later, when Dave described this conversation to me, my mind went quickly to another dad I know-my Heavenly Father. I was reminded of a conversation that He had with Satan about one of his kids, a man named Job. God's gushing went like this: "Have you considered my servant Job? There is no one on earth like him; he is blameless and upright, a man who fears God and shuns evil" (Job 8:1 NIV).

Wow! Talk about boasting; talk about fatherly pride! God was pleased as punch with His son Job and was quick to bring him up in conversation with Satan. Here was one guy that was really doing well in the game of life. And God had noticed. Tears came to my eyes as I thought about times I have served God with the talents and gifts He has given me. As I have stepped up to the plate and played in this game of life for Jesus, He has been there, watching, cheering, supporting, coaching, and proud as punch when I play my heart out for Him.

Sometimes my game may be off, other times I may hit a homer. Regardless, He is excited about His daughter and my endeavors to serve Him. What a great Dad!
