Undercover Jesus - Friday January 29, 2016
Nothing in all creation is hidden from God's sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account. Hebrews 4:13 NIV
Have you ever watched the show "Undercover Boss"? I've seen it a few times, and it always makes me fear God.

The basic premise of the show is typically a big shot CEO of some major corporation gets a bad make-up job and leaves his fancy office to work alongside the regular working man or woman within his company. Of course, the hourly employee has no idea he is now working with the most powerful person in his organization.

It makes me cringe when I hear or see one of the workers criticize the boss, or exhibit clear signs of ineptitude or laziness. It also makes me happy to see an employee who works hard and praises his company. I know that each person the boss interacts with will be responded to accordingly. At the end of the show people will either be reprimanded and corrected, or praised and rewarded.

This reminds me that we should also have a healthy fear of the Lord. Why? Because the Bible tells us over and over that God is with us and He will respond to what we do while we live in His world: "For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive what is due him for the things done while in the body, whether good or bad" (2 Corinthians 5:10 NIV).

What if we truly believed God was right next to us every minute of every day and someday we'll give an account to Him? Would our lives be different? Let's live today in the reality that we serve a God who is present with us and will respond to us. We serve an Undercover Jesus!
