Care to Watch? - Thursday February 06, 2014
You discern my going out and my lying down; you are familiar with all my ways. Psalm 139:3 NIV
One day this past week I found myself sitting on our son's front porch with our grandson Max. Handicapped from a birth trauma, Max loves sitting up, especially outdoors, with the aid of his bright orange wheelchair. But now, he had fallen asleep, and I was left quietly sitting...sitting and observing.

The painter next door had the radio up loud enough for me to "share" the program with him as he took a break, slurping his soda and talking on his cell phone. A loud motorcycle pulled into the drive across the street; the rider dismounted and literally walked backwards to his house, admiring his shiny bike all the way through his front door.

A young gal, dressed for work at the nearby grocery store, whizzed past on her bicycle (could she be late?), and an older woman plodded slowly by in the opposite direction, pushing her grocery cart home. A lady walked her Chihuahua...there was an uncanny resemblance!

People coming and going-they all were simply living out their day, unaware that someone was sitting on a porch watching them and wondering about their world.

Sometimes we can go through our day and feel unseen, unnoticed, and even unimportant. "I'm just doing my job," or "I need to pick up some groceries" are about as exciting as our life seems to get. Who really cares that I take my dog for a walk? Amazingly, God in heaven not only cares to watch us, He watches us because He cares and loves us so much. Psalm 139 shares God's intimate interest in us. Find some time to read it today!
