A Legacy Through the Generations - Tuesday February 09, 2016
Then the women of the town said to Naomi, "Praise the Lord, who has now provided a redeemer for your family! May this child be famous in Israel. May he restore your youth and care for you in your old age. For he is the son of your daughter-in-law who loves you." ... And they named him Obed. He became the father of Jesse and the grandfather of David. Ruth 4:14-17 NLT
Ruth's life communicates purpose. The story of Ruth reflects a belief in God's lordship throughout history. God sovereignly achieves His purposes through the faithfulness of His people. The book of Ruth communicates a very clear message that God's will is many times accomplished by common people with uncommon faith.

At the end of this book, Ruth's name is hardly even mentioned by the women in Bethlehem, yet her legacy speaks volumes down through the generations. Ruth lived a life of occupying "the second chair." It's about Naomi and Ruth. It's about Boaz and Ruth. It's about baby Obed and Ruth.

I love this woman. She lived a life of humility and obedience. And she lived out the great commandment. If you want a healthy life spiritually, emotionally, mentally, and even physically, you must obey the great commandment: "And Jesus replied, 'You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.' This is the first and greatest commandment. A second is equally important: 'Love your neighbor as yourself'" (Matthew 22:37-39 NLT).

Because of Ruth's faith and obedience, her life and legacy were significant. Saints, live a life of faithfulness to God, and your legacy will extend far beyond your lifetime.
