My Bigger Yes - 2 - Thursday February 25, 2016
You are the God who sees me. Genesis 16:13 NLT
I was on a beach in Sri Lanka, the only remaining member of a mission team there. An attractive woman was propositioning me. I was thinking in my head, "Hmm, I'm all alone, nobody knows where I am. I'm here all by myself, nobody sees." And yet I knew in my heart what we taught our kids as they were growing up: Genesis 16:13. Every parent should put that in their kids' brains. Just insert it: "You are a God who sees." And so that came back to me.

I said, "Well, look, I'm really not alone, and I'm married. Look at this, I have a wedding ring." She said, "Yes, I know, but you're lonely. Your wife is not here, right?" "Yes, that's right, she's not here." "You've been gone for a number of days, right?" So the conversation went on.. She kept pressing, and I said, "No, no, no." Read my lips. No.

It actually was a very strong temptation. A beautiful lady. I was all alone. No one would ever know. No one would ever see. We do that with our computer screens. We do that with our cell phones. We do that in our minds. We do that in our hearts. Yet I was able to say "No" that day because I had a "bigger yes" on the inside. I had a yes that says, "Look, I am God's. I love God. I am one of his sons. I belong to Him, and I have a beautiful bride, and I love my wife. So thank you for the offer, but no thank you."

So I walked away, and she walked away. I came away that day, energized, excited, yeah, hallelujah! Not every day has been like that in my mind, but our choices truly help determine the course of our lives.

Choose to live coram Deo. And choose to live with the "bigger yes." What is that bigger yes for you?
