What Do You Want Me to Do for You? - Saturday April 18, 2015
For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened. Matthew 7:8
"What do you want me to do for you?" These words of Jesus found in Mark 10:51 were asked of a blind man seeking to gain his sight, Bartemaeus. We don't know how long Bartemaeus had been blind, nor how many days he had sat by the roadside begging, but we do know that many rebuked him and tried to quiet him as he called out to Jesus. They didn't think that Jesus would really care.

Yet Jesus cared indeed and extended His offer of help. And without pause or pondering, this man responded, "I want to see!" He knew what he wanted, and he knew Jesus could provide.

How does this relate to me? First of all, do I truly believe that Jesus cares that intimately about me and my desires that he would say, "Dawn, what do you want me to do for you?" Yet that is His heart. He is interested in not just meeting my needs, but fulfilling my dreams. He loves me passionately and cares about what I care about. Do I believe that?

Secondly, do I dare to dream? Or have I allowed disappointments, impatience, or unbelief to rob me of dreaming even seemingly impossible things? Do I believe that He is truly able to do anything, and that He might actually want to satisfy my desires with good things?

What do you want Me to do for you? What a spectacular invitation to dream and to ask! Our Heavenly Father delights to delight! He urges me to ask! What will I say? What will I dream? The offer is ongoing, and the relationship rich.
