Great is His faithfulness; His mercies begin afresh each morning. Lamentations 3:23 NLT
Today my youngest daughter graduates from high school. The ceremony is called a commencement, but in many ways it feels like an ending to me! Life is filled with commencements: starting kindergarten, beginning college, new careers, marriage, moving, planting a church.

But I love the thought that new beginnings are not just found in big events. The above verse shows us that each day God's love and faithfulness are fresh and new, which gives us reason to hope. Isaiah 43:19 says, "For I am about to do something new. See, I already have begun. Do you not see it? I will make a pathway through the wilderness. I will create rivers in the dry wasteland" (NLT).

This serves as a reminder that as we follow God's plan, each day is filled with adventure. When our eyes and hearts are open to how He wants to use us, we are not stuck in the mundane. There is always something to look forward to as we live for God. "Anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!" (2 Corinthians 5:17 NLT). This encourages me that I never have to be stuck in areas of sin, but can have a fresh start to choose a godly life.

For my daughter Abby and for everyone getting ready to graduate from high school or college, may you feel God's blessing on your life as you venture out. And for all of us, may we embrace the newness and promise that this day holds.
