He Desires Me - Sunday June 24, 2012
He jealously desires the Spirit which He has made to dwell in us. James 4: 5
An elderly man from a retirement home lost his wallet on a sidewalk. The sole clue of his ownership was a faded letter tucked inside-a love letter written long ago by his sweetheart. Using the old address, a stranger who found the letter sleuthed to find the wallet's owner. Surprisingly, in the process, this Good Samaritan discovered that the lovers of yesteryear were now living on different floors of the same retirement home!
Passionate lovers in their teens, the two had been ripped apart by the girl's mother. Yet the young man had carried the memory of his sweetheart in his wallet for 50 years! His desire for her never faded; he never married anyone else. Amazingly, she didn't either. When they found each other, they had an ecstatic wedding!
Desire fulfilled! The lover never lost desire for his beloved! So I asked myself, "Is it possible that my Creator desires me this much?" It was, of course, an outlandish question, because the Creator of love's desire would certainly be full of love's desire Himself! He is the source!
In both Old Testament and New, our Lover declares He is madly in love with us. He is jealous and shows a lover's wrath against anyone or anything that steals us away (including our own unbelief). He never loses His desire.
In Jeremiah 3, even though the Law declared God's people were polluted adulterers, God cried out, "Return!" He wanted His people back! God continuously, and jealously, desires you more than the most passionate lover you have ever heard of. Believe...turn to Him...enjoy!
