Dependence Day - Saturday July 04, 2015
We're depending on GOD; he's everything we need. Psalm 33:20 MSG
Today we celebrate Independence Day. We take the time to be thankful for our freedom and for those who have fought to defend it. But I am also grateful for my dependence on God. It is my stability in a world filled with uncertainty.

I depend on God to meet my needs. "They all depend on you to give them food as they need it" (Psalm 104:27 NLT). God is not unaware of my financial, physical, and emotional needs, and I can be assured that if it is truly a need, He will provide it.

I depend on God's grace. "We have depended on God's grace, not on our own human wisdom" (2 Corinthians 1:12 NLT). Life is filled with decisions, choices and hard circumstances. I can lean on God to help me make sense of it all.

I depend on God's strength. "That's why I work and struggle so hard, depending on Christ's mighty power that works within me" (Colossians 1:29 NLT). Whether you are a full-time student, stay-at-home mother, or working a challenging job, some days we are tired and feel like we have nothing left to give. We have something better than our limited energy-we have God's unlimited power.

I depend on God's goodness. "The LORD is good to those who depend on him, to those who search for him" (Lamentations 3:25 NLT). When I am disappointed, or people that I love are hurting, it helps to remember that God is good and loving and involved in all the details of our lives.

Take time today to reflect on all the blessing that comes from dependency on God.
