Our Children Are Watching - Monday August 03, 2015
Then Enoch walked with God three hundred years after he became the father of Methuselah, and he had other sons and daughters. So all the days of Enoch were three hundred and sixty-five years. Enoch walked with God; and he was not, for God took him. Genesis 5:22-24
Enoch became Methuselah's father and lived another 300 years. Folks lived much longer back then. His son and other children saw their father "walk with God." They may have said, "Our dad and his God had a close relationship that impacted our lives. His relationship with God was genuine, and he sincerely loved us and others because of it." I think his life with God influenced his children because Methuselah's grandson was Noah, who also walked with God. "Noah was a righteous man, blameless in his time; Noah walked with God" (Genesis 6:9). Leadership is influence. Enoch was a godly father and leader. His children saw that God was real and worthy of their devotion too.

Our children are watching us. Our disciples are watching us. Our lost friends are also watching us. Of course, our children are our most important disciples and lost friends! Do our children and friends see that God is real, alive, and making a difference in us? Do they see His love for them and others? The popular Christian song says, "God is not dead. He's alive and living on the inside." Unbelievers, including your kids, are watching to see if indeed God is "alive and living on the inside" of you!

Ask God to help you live out your faith in Him, trusting Him in all things, being thankful, and living for others before yourself, so that He will be pleased and your children will see that you too "walk with God."
