Mohammed And The Open Door - Friday August 09, 2013
praying at the same time for us as well, that God will open up to us a door for the word, so that we may speak forth the mystery of Christ.... Colossians 4:3
My wife and I had just finished a delicious meal at a Mediterranean restaurant near our house, when I remembered that I had not given the cashier a copy of my testimony tract. I walked up and handed it to him, saying something like, "This is a picture of me a long time ago when I played soccer at Clemson University. It is the story of how God changed my life." He introduced himself as Mohammed and said he had played professional soccer in his native country. We had an enthusiastic conversation about soccer, and then he said, "Do you have any more [tracts]? If you do, you can put them here on the counter." There was an empty display, so I put the four tracts remaining in my wallet on the counter. Mohammed then said, "You can bring more next time you come." Sometimes a little genuine concern for others goes a long way. God had opened a door for the word and done much more than I expected!

My friend Glenn and I revisited Mohammed last week to continue to build the friendship in hopes of leading him to Christ.

When was the last time you prayed for an open door for the word? My wife and I pray often for open doors, so we expect God to give us opportunities to speak about Christ with unbelievers. If Paul asked the Colossian Christians to pray for God to open doors for him, should we not imitate him? Not only should we pray for opportunities, but we need to be prepared for what to say, and how to act.
