Baby Worship, God Worship - Wednesday August 13, 2014
And when they climbed into the boat, the wind died down. Then those who were in the boat worshiped him, saying, "Truly you are the Son of God. Matthew 14:32-33 NIV
Today's verse comes after Jesus calmed a storm. The disciples recognized Him for who He is and worshipped Him. Jesus accepted worship, thus claiming to be God.

Jesus accepted worship, in a sense, from the time He was a baby. The wise men travel many miles to worship Him: "On coming to the house, they saw the child with His mother Mary, and they bowed down and worshiped Him" (Matthew 2:11 NIV). Neither Mary nor Joseph nor anyone else stopped the wise men from worshipping a baby!

There are many other examples in the Gospels of Jesus accepting worship, including the following people.

The blind man that Jesus healed: "Then the man said, 'Lord, I believe,' and he worshiped Him" (John 9:38 NIV).

The women after seeing Jesus risen from dead: "Suddenly Jesus met them. 'Greetings,' He said. They came to Him, clasped His feet and worshiped Him. Then Jesus said to them, 'Do not be afraid...'" (Matthew 28:8-10 NIV).

The Canaanite with a demonized daughter: "The woman came and knelt before Him. 'Lord, help me!' she said" (Matthew 15:25 NIV).

The Leper who was healed: "A man with leprosy came and knelt before Him..." (Matthew 8:2 NIV).

The synagogue official whose daughter died: "While He was saying this, a synagogue leader came and knelt before Him..." (Matthew 9:18 NIV).

Time after time, Jesus accepted worship! He is God!
