Are You Being Transformed? - Monday August 25, 2014
You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; to be made new in the attitude of your minds; and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness. Ephesians 4:22-24 NIV
Our goal is to become more like Christ. Think about what Jesus is like.

He was compassionate and tender. He fed the crowds and healed them (see Matthew 9:36).

He was serious and focused. He was on mission and resolute! (see Luke 9:51).

He was submissive and obedient. As a boy He was obedient to His parents, and He was obedient to the Father (see Luke 2:51).

He was forgiving and merciful. On the cross He said to those who put Him there: "Father, forgive them..." (Luke 23:34).

He was loving and kind. Look at how He loved Martha, Mary, and Lazarus and also the apostle John (see John 13:23).

He was good and caring. He healed people everywhere He went.

He was honest and truthful: "I am the way and the truth and the life . . ." (John 14:6).

He was peaceable and patient: "he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish" (2 Peter 3:9 NIV).

He was strong and authoritative. See, for example, His interaction with the money changers (Luke 19:46).

How can you better imitate Jesus? Which of these areas would God have you focus on to become more like Jesus?
