How to Prevent Faith Decay - Sunday August 30, 2009
Yet he [Abraham] did not waver through unbelief regarding the promise of God, but was strengthened in his faith and gave glory to God, being fully persuaded that God had power to do what he had promised. Romans 4:20-21 NIV
God has called you to live and walk with Him by faith. To live and walk by faith is not just a one-time act or for just particular moments in your life. Living by faith is a life-long journey. So, how do you continue to live by faith that wavers not? How did Abraham, the father of faith, not waver in faith regarding what God had told Him?

Here are three ways to reinforce your faith. First, remember. Remember God's deeds in history and in your life. Read Psalm 42 and notice the use of the word remember in David's life. Remember your salvation story and remember Jesus Christ (2 Timothy 2:8). Keep your eyes fixed on the leader and perfecter of faith (Hebrews 12:2).

Secondly, renew your mind. Renew your mind with the promises of God (Romans 4:20), with the power of God (Jeremiah 32:27), and with the presence of God (Isaiah 41:10).

Thirdly, respond to God's deeds and promises in faith or trust. Your faith must be watered. Don't allow your faith to wither, wane and decay. How, you ask? You nurture and strengthen your faith in a number of ways and one of those ways is by hearing/reading the Word and work of Christ. Read the Word and read biographies of men and women of faith. Finally, remember this: When you falter and fall, Biblical faith is a rebounding faith. Abraham did not live a perfect life of faith, but he did rebound. How about you? Are you living by unwavering faith? If not, isn't it time for you to rebound?
