Boundary Lines - Friday September 19, 2014
Lord, you have assigned me my portion and my cup; you have made my lot secure. The boundary lines have fallen for me in pleasant places; surely I have a delightful inheritance. Psalm 16:5-6
I love these verses so much. I have hung onto God with these verses so many times. I think I love them because they are parenting verses for how God parents me.

There is excitement in God your Father having special things for you that He will not allow anyone else to take from you. God's lot for me is secure! I found great peace in this when I was single. I knew that God had a husband for me, and I did not need to worry about finding him or losing him. It was exciting to receive Mike from God.

There is safety in boundary lines. Sometimes God puts limits on things or just says "No." I have found great security in learning to live within God's boundary lines for me. I'd much rather receive a "no" from God than find myself neck deep in a swamp I'm not supposed to be in.

There is hope because God's boundary lines come with a promise. You have a delightful inheritance! I have always wanted to adopt a daughter from Africa named Emma. Eleven years into our marriage with three daughters by birth and one son by adoption, I was shocked when a friend called me to say that a girl named Emma was born in Liberia, and her birth mother had died. Mike and I decided to adopt Emma. At six months Emma died before we were able to bring her home, but she did not perish! Emma is eternal, and so is my hope. God honored the desire of my heart. There were limitations on it but I can trust that they fell for me in a pleasant place.
