Experiencing God-3 - Thursday September 22, 2011
For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made. Romans 1:20
I have experienced the world of birds through my bird-loving husband. The first time that Mike and I looked closely at a blue jay tail-feather, we were amazed.

Visualize a quill with hundreds of feathery strands. Each little barb has variegated colors-blue, black and white. Although every strand is different from the next, together they make a perfect pattern of stripes. Most shocking is that the striped pattern is perpendicular to the center vane, even though the strands grow at acute angles! Somehow the various colors on each angled barb form a perfect horizontal pattern. Then each feather nestles against an adjoining feather to paint stripes across the entire tail. Find a feather and put it under a microscope. Astounding!

Observing a blue jay feather can build my faith, because God's astounding wisdom is revealed in the design, and I choose to believe His power and worship Him. Likewise, observing things about the Lord in scripture builds my faith as I choose to believe what God reveals.

To experience God, we go from one level of faith to the next (Romans 1:17). Whenever God reveals something about Himself, we choose to believe or not to believe. You go from faith to faith by saying yes to each one. Look at God with me today. Get out the microscope and peer closely. You'll enjoy the experience, yes, but it will be because you're enjoying Him!
