Changing Seasons - Tuesday October 06, 2015
You crown the year with a bountiful harvest; even the hard pathways overflow with abundance. The grasslands of the wilderness become a lush pasture, and the hillsides blossom with joy. The meadows are clothed with flocks of sheep, and the valleys are carpeted with grain. They all shout and sing for joy! Psalm 65:11-13 NLT
There is just something about the changing of seasons. On my morning runs, I have observed the slow changing of leaves from bright green into brilliant colors of pink, orange, yellow, and brown. This change of seasons reminds me about the creativity of our God; but also how the coming of one new season means the ending of another. Time has a way of slipping by so quickly, and I am reminded of this verse: "Teach us to realize the brevity of life, so that we may grow in wisdom" (Psalm 90:12 NLT).

Each passing season offers us a time to reflect on our relationship with God. It's a wonderful opportunity to ask the Lord to grow us more in the coming season than He did in the one before. It's a perfect time to decide to make steps to draw closer to Him both in intimacy and honesty.

As we observe the beauty of the changing colors all around us, may we also reflect on God's faithfulness to us right where we are. Let's also ask for even more of His presence in the next season of our lives.
