Proof Positive - Saturday October 24, 2015
Do not harden your hearts, as at Meribah. ... when your fathers tested me. ...though they had seen My work. Psalm 95:8-9
The Israelites had seen God do miracles in the plagues in Egypt, and they'd seen the Red Sea part. But at Meribah they still asked, "Is God among us or not?" They wanted Him to continually prove his presence. Give us water-now!

The Pharisees had seen Jesus heal the blind, raise Lazarus from the dead, and fulfill prophecy. But at the cross they still said, "If you are the son of God, come down from the cross!"

Three days later Jesus rose from the dead and proved that He could do way more than simply come down from a cross while still alive. He could overcome death and not only save Himself but save us too! Yet for them even that was not enough proof. Nothing could have convinced them!

How much proof do you need? Abundant proof positive already exists that God is near to you and loves you. What have you already believed? Camp on your checklist:

• Nature shows me God's awesome creative ability.

• God cares for me. He took care of a whole nation during the exodus of Israel. He can care for me.

• God is with me. At times He gives providential help during a crisis, as seen lots of times in the Bible and also in current events. (Suffering doesn't mean He's left me. Look at Joseph! Genesis 50:20.)

• God shows His extreme love for me at the cross of Jesus. Review, review, review! See Romans 5:8.

Let's focus on reality instead of craving new proof!
