Worship-A Way of Life - Saturday November 21, 2009
Worship the Lord with reverence. Psalm 2:11
The greatest privilege that believers have on earth is to worship God. There is but one God, the creator of heaven and earth. He is Lord of all. There is no one or nothing else that comes close to comparing with Him. God has sought us out to worship Him (John 4:23). He does so, not for His benefit but ours. He does not need us or our worship. He does, however, desire it. He also deserves it.
We have been created to worship, and if we are not worshipping Him, then we are worshipping either ourselves or something else. This is detrimental because we become like that which we worship (Psalm 115:8).
Our worship needs to become a way of life, not just something we do on Sunday. True worship is evidenced by a life devoted and dedicated to the Almighty. True worship comes from our hearts, motivated by the Holy Spirit, boasting in Christ Jesus while putting no confidence in our own accomplishments (Philippians 3:3).
Listed below are some ingredients for heart-felt worship:
W = walk humbly with God (Micah 6:8)
O = overflow with gratitude and joy (Psalm 50:23)
R = remember God's works, promises, character (Psalm 78:8-10, 105:8, 100:8)
S = sings songs from the heart (Psalm 47:6)
H = hunger for God's word daily (Matthew 4:3)
I = in love with God's people (1 John 4:20)
P = praise God (Psalm 150)
Are you a worshipper?
