The Same God Will Lead You Out-3 - Saturday November 24, 2012
Weeping may last for the night, but a shout of joy comes in the morning. Psalm 30:5
The lyrics of a recent song on the radio reminded me of lessons that God had taught me many years ago during a trial. "The same God who was with you then is with you now. The same God who led you in will lead you out" ("The Same God," NewSong, One True God album, 2011).

The same God? At the time of my broken friendship, it seemed contradictory that God both wanted me in this wilderness and also wanted me out! Yet the promises were certainly there, and they brought much hope while I grieved. Dozens of them became my lifeline: "I would have despaired unless I had believed that I would see the goodness of the Lord..." (Psalm 27:13-14). Another one is:

"The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. Many are the afflictions of the righteous; but the Lord delivers him..." (Psalm 34:18-19).

Because of these and other promises I believed that God could solve the unsolvable. I might not experience full deliverance until heaven, but a better day would come for sure! I held onto today's verse-weeping might last for the night, but I could count on shouts of joy someday.

Many years later a solution came about in a surprising, miraculous way. Very unusual circumstances made it obvious-this was the Lord's doing. I experienced the shout of joy in the morning! Yet the lessons I'd learned along the way were priceless. I had seen God's love.

The same God who brought me in and stayed with me also led me out. This same God is for you. Hang onto His promises!
