Glad for Grace - Tuesday November 25, 2014
I do not set aside the Grace of God, for if righteousness could be gained through the law, Christ died for nothing! Galatians 2:21 NIV
In Galatians chapter two Paul writes about how he opposed Peter to his face. He says that Peter was not acting in line with the truth of the gospel. Peter wasn't loving the uncircumcised Christians because he was separating himself from them. He wasn't doing the second most important thing that Jesus asked him to do.

Think about this for a moment. Peter was a person who knew Jesus intimately. Peter was there when Jesus started His ministry. He saw all of the miracles and healings. He was personally involved in miracles; with Jesus, Peter walked on water! He heard all the sermons and was given some private, personal ones too. He saw Jesus transfigured and met Moses and Elijah. He was there when they arrested Him, accused Him, and crucified Him. Peter stood in the empty tomb! He spent 40 days with Jesus after His resurrection. If there were to be a person who should be able to love God and love people the way Jesus asked us to, you'd think it would be Peter.

I love this! We all need grace so much and there is no need to feel ashamed about it. I'm so glad that Peter was not able to be righteous through the simplified law of two commands even after all he experienced by living life alongside Jesus. How sweet it is to receive grace! How blessed I am to remember that my failures are not necessarily a statement of a lack of relationship between Christ and me. Yes, I will not set aside the grace of Christ for Jesus is my dear friend who died for me.
